West Coast Clean Economy Collaborative
3EStrategies’ CEO Cylvia Hayes has been hired to lead the West Coast Clean Economy Collaborative.
The West Coast Clean Economy Collaborative will facilitate policy collaboration between the West Coast States to rapidly advance economic development initiatives that support environmental protection and restoration, energy security, and economic opportunities for people across the income spectrum.
The 2010 elections left America increasingly divided, with many states trending toward reduced support for clean energy and climate change policies. However, Washington, Oregon and California defied this trend. If western states can demonstrate that clean economy policies generate economic stimulation and jobs growth they will create a glide path for other states to follow. Linking the clean economy policies of the western governors will provide a greater chance of economic quick wins that all states will be interested in replicating. This will be critically important in moving toward sounder national energy and economic policies.
The West Coast Clean Economy Collaborative (WCCEC) is designed to convert this opportunity into reality. Its mission is to facilitate policy collaboration between the West Coast States to rapidly advance economic development initiatives that support environmental protection and restoration, energy security, and economic opportunities for people across the income spectrum. Intended outcomes of the program include:
• Create regional interstate policy initiatives that catalyze greater energy efficiency and utilization of renewable energy.
• Create partnerships with Governors, NGO’s and clean economy businesses to accelerate clean economy growth.
• Deliver quick wins to demonstrate that clean economy policies and practices are smart economic development strategies.
• Streamline clean economy resource production in rural regions.
