John Miller, President

John Miller is an investor and executive consultant specializing in high performance growth companies. John began his career as a management consultant with Ernst and Young and managed the commercial real estate endowment for Stanford University. He served as CEO and in other senior management positions at several financial services and technology companies and has proven expertise in business development, mergers and acquisitions, finance, and strategic planning and implementation. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, completed studies at Cambridge and Stanford Universities and is a graduate of the Executive Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Renee Perin, Vice-President

Renee is a Central Oregon native, and has lived in Bend, Sisters and Madras since 1968. For the past nine years she has established a career as an investment advisor; primarily working with successful families, business owners and non-profit groups. She has also co-owned and operated a successful retail business in Sisters, Oregon. Renee was a founding board member, serving 4 years for the Sisters Folk Festival. She graduated from Portland State University with degrees in business and finance. Through extensive world travel and a deep commitment to her home-grown Central Oregon, Renee’s dedication to sustainable living began. She is active in the outdoors and enjoys cycling, fly fishing, running, skiing and white water rafting.

Misti Cardin, Secretary

Originally from Southern Oregon, Misti received her BARCH from the University of Oregon in 2003, with a minor in Business and a focus on Urban Design. Following college, she worked in the Planning Department of a large firm in Portland for about a year before moving to Bend and joining Steele Associates Architects in 2004. Misti’s interest in Sustainable Design began midway through college when she began volunteering for the HOPES Conference, and obtained a work-study position in Charlie Brown’s Lab. She became LEED Certified in 2004, and has had the opportunity to work on 2 LEED projects so far. She’s hoping to apply her knowledge to 3EStrategies, and also hopes to learn a great deal as well.

Diana Fischetti

Diana Fischetti is currently a dual Master's degree candidate in both the Environmental Studies Program and the Department of Geography at the University of Oregon. She is also pursuing a Certificate in Non-Profit Management through the Department of Planning, Public Policy & Management. Diana is currently the LEED Education Program Project Coordinator, working on the University of Oregon's renovation of the historic White Stag Block in Portland. Her academic research involves the investigation of housing design as a response to consumer culture, as well as green building and renewable energy design. Also at the University of Oregon, Diana researched and co-authored the University's first comprehensive Campus Sustainability Assessment (2007; http://sustainability.uoregon.edu), and worked primarily on the landscape and building portions of the Assessment. Sustainability, education, and the environment have been at the heart of her personal, professional, and academic pursuits for many years. While working towards her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, awarded by the University of Colorado in 2000, Diana was employed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 8 offices in Denver. She also has experience in such areas as: endangered species litigation, environmental education, conference coordination, professional ski patrolling, emergency medical response, and structural and wildland firefighting. Diana enjoys the outdoors as an avid skier, runner, and mountain biker. She plans to return to Bend permanently following the receipt of her Master's degrees in 2008.

Kathryn Gray

Kathryn Gray is a home designer specializing in passive solar homes. She has been principal of Urbansun SunSmart Homes since 1978, a firm which offers consulting services on passive solar and sustainable home construction, and has constructed dozens of passive solar homes over the past 25 years. Kathryn was appointed in 2004 by the Governor to Oregon's Residential Structures Board. Kathryn graduated from Portland State University and has spent much of her professional career as an urban planner focusing on natural resources and energy conservation policy.

Cylvia Hayes

Cylvia is the founder and Executive Director of 3EStrategies. She has 17 years of professional experience in sustainability issues including sustainable energy, green building, waste prevention and sustainable economics. In 2005, Cylvia was honored as a "Top 50 Leader" in Oregon by Oregon Business magazine. She was chosen by Cascade Business News as a "2006 Top 40 Under 40" and was just named the 2006 Central Oregon “Earth Star”. Cylvia is currently serving on Governor Kulongoski's Renewable Energy Working Group. She serves on the Central Oregon Economic Development Strategy Committee and the Bend 2030 Vibrant Economy action planning group. She ran for the Oregon Legislature in 2002, using the campaign to elevate the issues of sustainable development. She holds a Masters in Environmental Studies degree from The Evergreen State College. Hayes was recently chosen as one of the 1,000 people to be trained by former Vice President Al Gore to deliver the climate change presentation that is the basis of An Inconvenient Truth.

William King

Bill King has been a practicing attorney, litigator, arbitrator and mediator for over forty years. He is a member of the bar in California and Washington, D.C. (inactive) and in Oregon (active). From 1978 to 1995 he
was managing partner of King, MacLeod, Alford & Morey in San Francisco, California. He has extensive experience with the London and Swedish insurance markets and has acted as general counsel and as an investment advisor for Groh Asset Management. He has represented Lloyd's of London's claims office, various underwriting syndicate at Lloyd's, the Institute of London Underwriters and Skandia Insurance Company in Stockholm. Bill was raised on the east coast in Washington D.C. and New England, and is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School. He moved to California in the 1960s and then to Oregon in 2001. He is a skier, hiker and sailor with a long standing interest in the environment.

Dr. John Kitzhaber

John Kitzhaber served as Oregon Governor from 1995 to 2003. He was President of the State Senate
from 1985 until 1993. Gov. Kitzhaber has been closely involved with natural resource issues in Oregon and the West during his entire public service career. As Governor of Oregon, he was an advocate for finding innovative and cooperative solutions to the natural resource issues confronting the region. He served as co-chair of the Western Governors' Association efforts that developed a comprehensive strategy to address forest health and the risk of catastrophic fire throughout the West. He took the lead on Columbia River management issues. His administration developed and implemented the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds as a way to involve local communities in the recovery of threatened and endangered salmon runs. Gov. Kitzhaber joined with former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt to develop the “Enlibra “ approach to resource management, and led the effort to address the forest health crisis in the Northwest through his work with the Blue Mountains Demonstration Area. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from the University of Oregon Medical School.
