Cylvia Hayes, Founder & Executive Director

Cylvia is the founder and Executive Director of 3EStrategies. She has 17 years of professional experience in sustainability issues including sustainable energy, green building, waste prevention and sustainable economics. In 2005, Cylvia was honored as a "Top 50 Leader in Oregon" by Oregon Business magazine. She was chosen by Cascade Business News as a "2006 Top 40 Under 40" and was just named the 2006 Central Oregon “Earth Star”. Cylvia is currently serving on Governor Kulongoski’s Renewable Energy Working Group. She serves on the Central Oregon Economic Development Strategy Committee and the Bend 2030 Vibrant Economy action planning group. She ran for the Oregon Legislature in 2002, using the campaign to elevate the issues of sustainable development. She holds a Masters in Environmental Studies degree from The Evergreen State College. Hayes was recently chosen as one of the 1,000 people to be trained by former Vice President Al Gore to deliver the climate change presentation that is the basis of An Inconvenient Truth.

David Rafkind, BASE Director

David has a background in engineering, design, robotics and environmental science. His secondary education was built upon a foundation of hard sciences and mathematics with an emphasis in environmental science and hands on clime reconstruction. His unique skill set enables him to bring together individuals and institutions, exchange knowledge and convert ideas into action. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.

Megan Clark, Green & Solar Tour Coordinator

Megan Clark has recently earned her Master of Science degree in Environmental Management and Science focused on Green Design from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and is excited to begin coordinating the 2008 Central Oregon Annual Tour of Green Building and Solar Homes. Her past experience assisting 3E Strategies with this event sparked her interest in green building and clean energy technologies. Before moving to Central Oregon in 2001, Megan graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and a Minor in Chemistry. Megan enjoys spending time outdoors with her friends skiing, mountain biking, boating and backpacking.
