2007 Central Oregon Green and Solar Home Tour
Saturday & Sunday October 6 & 7 ~ 10 am – 4 pm
Tour more than 28 Green and Solar Homes in Central Oregon Communities over one great weekend. New homes, existing homes & remodels in Bend, Sisters, Prineville, and Redmond. Most are personal homes, a few are production homes for sale.
See passive and active solar homes--off grid and grid-tied--in urban and rural settings. Homes feature of variety of wall construction, including advanced framing and double staggered 2x4, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICU), Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), Durisol, Ecrete/AAC (areated autocalved concrete block) and strawbale. Plenty of PV and solar hot water systems and solar technology too. Homes will be staffed by owners, designers, builders and solar contractors.
Tour Guide with discriptions of homes, photos and driving instructions will be disbritubed in the Bend Bulletin on Monday September 24 and thereafter be available at the Bulletin, area Libraries and at Central Oregon Environmental Center, 16 NW Kansas, Bend. Copies can also be picked up on the tour weekend at the 3EStrategies Booth at the Energy Fair--part of Bend Fall Fest, downtown Bend
This is a self guided tour -- choose the homes with features that most interest you and visit on your schedule. Most homes will be open 1one day but some will be open both days. Because of distances, it will be impossible to visit all the homes--check the guide and prioritize your day.
Tickets: $10/car & free to walkers and cyclists. Tickets are available at any home and good fro all homes both days.
